So, on the 13th of May 2017, I went to a convention I have never even heard of and apparently, this was its third year. It’s called Horror Con and it took place in Sheffield. As a horror movie fanatic, I loved the vibes the convention gave out, the stalls were brilliant and of course, the cosplay was phenomenal.
One of the best things about attending conventions is that you get to meet a lot of people and on my adventures I met a man at Manchester Anime and Gaming Convention 2017 who told me about it. There were a lot of guests who were headlining the event. Celebrities like Sid Haig, Cassandra Peterson and Heather Langenkamp were just a few. While I did not get the chance to meet them, I did spend some time on the floor with my friends.
As with the deal with every other convention I have been to, the cosplay level was up there with the best. There were a lot of scary clowns to begin with but a lot of other iconic characters also jumped in the real world. As per usual, they were more than happy to get their photos taken and it’s always nice to see how friendly they are.
But more than, I liked how many cosplayers stayed in character. There was a guy there dressed as Jason and while I do not hesitate to approach a cosplayer for a photo, this guy had me running in the opposite direction. Sinister and creepy, this guy knew how to grab the essence of the character.
As for the convention itself goes, it was standard stuff. The main entrance was a dark and foggy affair which led to a corridor. The left side took us to the photo session with the guest area, a cafeteria, body paint workshop and some stalls.
The other side of the corridor took us to a large area filled with stalls and panels for guests. While the stalls were definitely the attraction, my main gripe was that there was not a lot of room to move. There was some decent items on sale but once I left that part to explore more and returned later, I just saw the crowd and thought, ‘Nah man, I am out of here’.
Overall, it was a good experience and would recommend to all horror fans. Check out the video of my visit down below:
