There has a lot of noise on game sites when it comes to leaks and announcements as we inch closer to E3 day by day. Although there have been a number of leaks and announcements already, here are a couple of games and announcements I am looking forward to. I am not going to be talking about Destiny 2 or any other project that has been revealed already. I am simply shedding some light on games that have been announced in the past but we have completely forgotten about them or announcements that have not been made.
5. Cyberpunk 2077
Helmed by the studio behind The Witcher series CD Projekt, Cyberpunk 2077 was announced a long time ago but because the studio at the time was focusing on completing and supporting Witcher 3 at the time, Cyberpunk 2077 was off the grid. Now since The Witcher series are officially over, the studio has since moved on to the ambitious project and development is in full swing. I am looking forward to a trailer powered by in-game graphics by the studio that shows how the game is coming along or maybe an announcement to show that the game is coming along nicely.
4. Detroit: Become Human
Love them or hate them, I like David Cage’s games. I loved Fahrenheit and loved Heavy Rain. I know people complain how you cannot control the game much and it feels like a movie but for me, Quantic Games nail the characters and story and the adventure becomes a much more personal affair for me. Detroit: Become Human was unveiled in 2016 at E3 and 2017 at the same show floor, I am expecting more from the game.
3. Xbox Scorpio Exclusive Titles
Project Scorpio has been hyped as the most powerful console ever created and Microsoft seems to doing what they should have done in the past with Xbox One – listen to the developers. The hype is real and according to lengthy articles at Eurogamer, Xbox Scorpio seems to be the real deal as well. So, what’s point of launching the most powerful console on the planet with no exclusives? To be honest, there will be exclusive titles that will not only be breathtakingly gorgeous but will also have that Microsoft-approved stamp on them that will show the world how beast of a console Project Scorpio is. Although there have been no games that have been announced or teased at this point, I am expecting something from 343 Industries.
2. Konami games
After the very public fallout between Konami and Kojima, many gamers like myself wonder about the future of the company and the games the company makes. It has been established that the company’s focus is on pachinko machines which makes Konami a lot of profit, the company still holds the rights to a stellar catalogue of games which includes Contra, Castlevania, Metal Gear Solid and of course, Silent Hill.
With the cancellation of the last Silent Hill game and a new Metal Gear game on the horizon, I am looking forward to how the company would approach its target audience this year. There has been a lukewarm reception (that is me being polite) to the new Metal Gear Solid: Survive game but I think the studio should now reveal a new Silent Hill game. If not, at least Konami should show a bit more of the new MGS game that would restore the faith of the fans.
1. Resident Evil 2 Remake
This is a big one. Yes, bigger than any other announcement on the list. Resident Evil 2 Remake was announced in 2015 and since then, there has been no news on the project. There was a video that was uploaded by Capcom’s R&D Division 1 thanking the fans and telling them that the project has been given the greenlight. The news was met with a positive response and with Resident Evil VII finally out of the doors, the studio is finally in a position to reveal Resident Evil 2 Remake to the people.
