Why do we continue to fight among ourselves an refuse to accept the fact that we are no different from another human being walking down the street? We may practice different religion, belong to a different race, grew up in a different culture…but does that mean that our problems are not the same? True, there will be some people who may have it easier or harder than others but by the end of the day, we will all have the same set of problems. Paying the bills, pay up mortgage, career paths, family issues – we all have the same issues that we worry about when we walk down the street. We may be Christians, Muslims, Hindus and Jews. We may be White, Black or Brown. But before all that, we are all human beings. We wake up in the morning with the intention of earning an honest livelihood for ourselves and our family. We go to bed every night thinking about the next set of bills that could pop through our letterbox in the morning. So, what makes us different – Our skin colour, our social standing or our religious beliefs? There is absolutely nothing that separates us from the rest. We hunger, we thirst, we get tired, we sleep, we live and we die – we are all human beings. So instead of trying to be good at being Muslim, Christian or Hindu, we need to concentrate on being good human beings first. After all, our children will grow up learning from us. We need to leave them a lesson of peace and love, not of anger and hatred. Make a world today that our children will live in peacefully tomorrow.
